Where has the time gone...

IMG_3545
Wow, I'm sorry. It's been awhile. I do have an excuse though. A 'busy' weekend lead into a busy school week which lead into a three day get-away trip. And now I'm back. As usual, click on the above pic; they tell better stories (most are the same as the facebook pics btw). So what did I do...

Ok, 2 Wednesdays ago, I had off from school. During the day, I took a field trip with my Japanese Culture class to the Studio Ghibli Museum. Studio Ghibli is a very famous Japanese animation studio created by Hayao Miyazaki. Miyazaki's movies are very popular in Japan and throughout the world. I enjoy all of his movies. If you are familiar with his movies and ever get to Japan, go to this museum, it's fantastic. I wasn't allowed to take pictures inside, so no pics inside, lol.

That night, the weekly Tokyo English speaking magazine 'Metropolis' was hosting a Halloween party at a club in Roppongi, the part of Tokyo where all the foreigners hang out. The party was called the Glitter Ball. I went. Most people dressed up, some went absolutely crazy with their costumes. I went as a...um, never mind that. I don't know what I dressed up as or why. I needed a costume quick, so bought some random stuff for 12 bucks and improvised, lol.

Saturday I went to Ginza, the premiere shopping district in Tokyo. I did not buy anything. That night, I went here. Here's some quick facts about Tokyo. 1. The club scene is huge in this city. 2. Trains (subway, regional rail, everything, etc.) all stop around midnight and do not resume until around 5 - 5:30 a.m. Let's just say I've never seen such a busy city at 4 a.m. then I did in Roppongi last weekend. At one point, I went to a fast food restaurant that had three floors and there where no seats.

Last week, school was tough I suppose. 2 tests, 2 papers and a presentation due in three days. No sweat. Both tests A, presentation A, paper A-. Waiting for the last paper. Boo-ya.

I had Friday off, so Thursday night I took a flight to an island near Tokyo called Hachijo-jima and went camping for the weekend. It wasn't bad; I hiked up two volcanoes, saw all sorts of nature stuff, sea cliffs, traditional Japanese stuff, etc. I took the trip because I just wanted to see the ocean, with mountains and cliffs, in a natural setting, not the toxic waste pool that is Tokyo Bay. Next time I go though, I'm renting a car. Everyone else on the island drove up the mountains, almost to the summits. I hiked everywhere and it hurt.

Ok, one month to go this semester. Time flies by past.
